“There never was my religion or yours, my national religion or your national religion; there never existed many religions, there is only the one. One Infinite Religion existed all through eternity and will ever exist, and this Religion is expressing itself in various countries, in various ways.” – By Swami Vivekananda
“Religion is a great force – the only real motive force in the world”. There is a common misconception that religion means ritualistic religion and nothing else. The word religion actually means laws, both natural and moral, that ensure right living. Religion stands for an integral development of the personality, a comprehensive view of life. – By George Bernard Shaw
As the above meaning of religion rightly pointed out that religion is not only about the spiritual belief but it is about the overall internal as well external development and environment of the mankind of a caste, creed, country, region, continent, etc. Religion is the basis which forms the future of mankind. It inculcates the values, mindset, and culture in an individual of any part of the human community. It taught a human how to deal with humanity and help others to excel in their life.
This was the importance of religious harmony for an individual. On the similar lines religious harmony is very important for the nations of the world. Every nation is dependent on each other for its extended needs, love, care, trade and many other needs. Every region can’t produce everything or they can’t innovate alone. Even though they do so they need the global world to except their product or order or rules. If the world would have not accepted the Dollar, the value of Dollar would not have been the same. Similar with the U.S.A. as a largest economy.
Hence, we can say that for a nation to grow, it has to respect other nations, their religion, their beliefs and culture, their people as whole. In today’s world there is a lot of unrest in the world because of the competition they placing for others. Today every country or religion is trying to outdo others. This phenomenon is not adding any value in the society. The quality of human we are producing today is getting worse day by day.
Today the current generation is not thinking about the future and they are motivated to deplete the resources, the culture, and the values. They are not concern with their future generation because they want to leave this moment. Our human creed is getting selfish. There is no harmony internally as well as externally.
The recent splurge in the growth of terrorism is an evidence that our misunderstanding towards the concept of religious harmony. Every nation wants to become big. Economies are rising and falling. Environment is getting polluted but what we all want is our personal freedom.
Today religious harmony is a great need because we human are becoming very selfish. In this 21st century there is a hike in the crime rates against women, small children, etc. Day by day more crimes are committed, and taken year by year the numbers rise hugely. This only shows that the police department’s system is not working the way expected. This system has not been modified to any extent, and therefore the numbers will not change. In the current scenario our daughters and sisters are not safe. This is one of the biggest reasons for the religious and social harmony.
With the expansion of the trade and the improvement of the global relation it is very important for all the nations around the world to understand the need of religious harmony. This world has a lot of different religion and to maintain the harmony is the responsibility of the government. But we can see that in this 21st century these nations are provocation the difference of religion. Like the encouragement of Pakistan towards Islam and ultimately towards terrorism. Hence, these practices should be avoided by the countries to maintain the social peace. Otherwise many people will lose their life in these ruthless battles among the religion.
And if there is no human, there will be no humanity. Without human there will be no question of religion, trade, relations, etc. There are many laws which try to intact the religious harmony. But the changing mindset of the people towards the term brotherhood is getting worse day by day, especially because of increasing competition and life complexities.
Religious quarrels are always over the husks. When purity, when spirituality goes, leaving the soul dry, quarrels begin, and not before. Therefore there is need of religious harmony.
In the end I would conclude by saying;
That only human species has the ability to transmit information and knowledge from one generation to the next. This ability has given man his cherished civilization and culture. An enquiring mind naturally seeks for an order, for a unifying principal behind the apparent diversity. It is well known that faith infuses energy and grit, without which no worthwhile progress in any field of activity is possible. This is where schools can play an important role.
Incarnations, Saints, Prophets and Sages have appeared in different parts of the world from time to time in order to teach men how to live in harmony. These great souls, on the basis of personal experience explained the essential ideals and values in life and taught how they can be achieved. In addition to their moral and spiritual teachings, almost all the religious teachers and reformers of the world gave out a plan and a system of their own on which human society would best be organized. It was thus that every faith helped to establish customs and conventions, with rites and rituals, amongst the communities of mankind and gave birth to a particular type of civilization and culture which naturally differed from others. This is how different religions came into existence.
Today we all are at the verge of atomic destruction and when everybody is busy in the mad rat race of materialistic pursuit, religious harmony will be a relief. We should make an effort to peep into the prominent religions of the world and find out a secular message for the mankind. Our aim should be to enlighten and educate the masses about all the religions, so that the message of universal brotherhood is spread throughout the world.
